Parent & carer information

 

Saturday playschemes run once a month during term time at St Nicholas Primary school in Stevenage.

 

Holiday playscheme takes place during the school holidays.

We run during February half term, the Easter holidays, May half term, the summer holiday, October half term and during the Christmas break.

 

The morning session is for children aged 5-11 and runs from 9.30 until 12pm

 

The afternoon session is for children aged 12-19 and runs from 1pm until 3.30pm

 

The cost is £5.00 per session, payable in advance via PayPal.

 

If you are a new applicant and wish to gain access to our schemes,
please contact Brinda by email, or on 01462 689406 to check your eligibility.

 

We aim to:

  • provide quality play activities and experience for our children and young people
  • offer respite time for parents and carers
  • work in partnership with all relevant organisations and parents/carers
  • develop policies and procedures and ensure they are followed and regularly reviewed
  • provide training and development opportunities for our staff and volunteers
  • promote equality and diversity in all our activities
  • encourage inclusion by offering support to enable children and young people to play

 

NHCVS Breakaway Playschemes create opportunities for social interaction between children and young people with special needs, through different mediums of play in a safe, supportive, fun environment.

 

Please: -

  • Notify us in advance if a booked place is no longer needed. If we do not receive a minimum of 24-hours’ notice £5 cost will still apply.
  • Keep your child at home if they are unwell. Please do not send your child to playscheme within 48-hours of them having suffered a bout of sickness or diarrhoea.
  • Supply a healthy packed lunch (if required) with the child’s name clearly written on it.
  • Do not include items containing any nuts or fizzy drinks
  • Supply a spare set of clothes (with your child’s name) if your child is likely to need them
  • Make sure that your child brings a coat (clearly labelled) in colder weather.
  • Apply sun cream to your child before arrival at the Playscheme In warmer weather.
  • Remember that all medication must be handed in upon arrival and collected at the end of the day. We cannot store medicine overnight.
  • All medicines should be in their original container with pharmacy label. Please note, only medication prescribed by a doctor will be accepted.
  • Supply nappies and wipes if your child requires them.
  • Inform us if there are any changes to your child’s routine or care requirements.
  • Inform us of any unusual changes in your child’s mood or demeanour on the day
  • Inform us of who will be picking your child up. If this person is not the parent / carer they will be required to provide the correct password which you supplied to us on the most recent application form
